90 degrees and sunny

Had a wonderful weekend filled with family, friends, and firsts. Tonight!   get my stuff together to start moving into my studio Tuesday!  I have the day off after last weeks 70 hour debacle. Craaaziness.

After I am moved in I can finally get going on my new body of work.  I wish I was the kind of person who can work in chaos but, unfortunately I am not.

The big boss told me today I am the studio's new "layout artist". I don't know what that means, specifically, but the kitchenaid stuff I just finished was a fun reprieve from the day to day. Bring it on!

UPDATE: no day off tomorrow, forget this entire post. Sweeeeeet

3,000 flights

Photo Assisted for the first time in months yesterday & it kicked my ass!!  Three separate lighting setups on every tier of the Palace Theatre. In case you've never been there, it's all stairs...very steep stairs of varying depth and height.

Went to Yoga after the 12 hour shoot to "stretch it out" yahhhhh

Today, I'm not as sore as should be but my muscles feel tight and strong! OoOooOooo

Yesterday, worked on my drawings for work for many hours then went to my studio to do a thorough cleaning.  Ummm, let's just say it needed it...badly. Only thing left to do before moving in is vacuum and "wash" the couches and cover them with slipcovers!
I measured the space and everything I plan on putting in there and made a to-scale layout of everything.  Hopefully, it turns out as cute and organized as possible, it's way too small to have things just thrown about all crazy.

Works pretty nuts this week, and I have a wedding to go to this weekend so i don't think i'll get moved in completely until mid-late next week. Here's hoping!

After work today: run, work on kitchen drawings, sleep?

Toddler Step!

Got the keys to my new studio space in Kent! On the way home, I was dreaming about how to set the space up & I pull in the driveway to find my great uncle with a new FLATFILE he found at Rex's Salvage for $100!!  It was originally $591.   I think it's a sign that I made a good choice.

Jorb

Assigned my first artistic project at work. Kitcheaid wants drawings of kitchens for the interactive portion of their site in which people can see what a mixer would look like in "their" kitchen.  It's fun to draw and get paid for it ;)

My painting degree in action, people!!

Baby Steps toward a Studio

Instead of moving to Cleveland to be closer to work, I decided to get a studio space near where I live.  I'll still have a long commute but at least I will save money and I will have a place that I know I can mess up without losing my security deposit ;)   I got the number of the landlord who rents a space to one of my old painting professors so hopefully he has an opening..

Currently, at my parents house with cable television, a pool, my cut cat and dog, and other distractions, I find it too difficult to paint as often as I want to.  With summer ending (I got NOTHING accomplished) and grad application season approaching it's time to get down to bizznissssss.   Soooo, I will treat this studio as an office, going there to work on my way home and on weekends. Now that my boy has left to start his second year at law school I'll have more time than ever to paint without wanting to be somewhere else.

First Entry

The goal is to do something creative, exciting, or challenging every day.  Or at least take a step in that direction.

Yesterday at work, Tim took pictures of everyone for the website. It was the first time I actually had a portrait taken of just myself, as myself since the summer before my senior year in high school, seven years ago. It turned out shockingly similar to my yearbook picture.

Run at quail hollow in the tall grass meadow (yep, that's what it's called!). I was surrounded by flowers taller than me, and it was wonderful :)

Here's a picture of my "boss" that Tim took for fun yesterday:
