Leafy Greens

I was in Charleston this past weekend, it was lovely! I'm going to write a longer post about it tonight but, in the meantime... potential future source of home energy.  If this is f'real, it could be awesome.

Roni Wakes Me Up: HOMERUN!

Yes, we are superheros, and sometimes its good that nobody knows about us!
WATCH OUT we'll be famous at 60. Or so my fortune cookie tells me.
Bustin' out! I have work up at the Sycamore in San Francisco. They have the most amazing roast beef sandwich in the world, so says me.
And the best art.
I haven't had proper photos taken yet, but here are some party pics!

My cousin Judy bought a piece, and took it off the wall! XOXO

Collections

Yesterday, I wandered around Akron and went on a mini photo adventure. Sometimes, I like to pretend I'm a photographer! Yay fun!

Lock 3, I was pretty stoked that the sun popped out for me!

Cozy up

I made my first blanket yesterday! I was prepared to fail miserably but it was really fun.  The next time I make a blanket I'll be sure to throw more time at it, like a good month, and make it perfect.  It's for a dog so, I figure he won't care that it looks silly :)  Annyyyyway I thought this would be a good opportunity to throw out a sewing disclaimer, OK? Okey!

Everything I've posted has been a 5 hour max, spur of the moment, fly by the seat of my pants project. I'd like to go on record stating that I can use patterns, I've even made my own suit jacket pattern. When I've used them, everything comes out very well and nearly pro-passable (or at least high class amateur, hahaa). However, I choose not to when making things for myself. It's less time consuming and frankly, I enjoy the surprise!

Moving on! I've had these fabrics since high school and since Parker loves race cars, the color red, and being a boy puppy I decided to finally use them to make his new blanket. It's pretty cute and I'll bet money that he ends up eating right through it!
red & blue fleece for coziness, checker cotton for snaziness
wide black cotton border (which folds onto the front), gray denim inlay, red cotton name attached with no-sew heat adhesive

Tomorrow and Friday, I'm on location in Chillicothe for work. It's really far but oh well! Monies is monies!  I'm bringing the portable pieces of a piece I'm working on so I don't waste too much time.

G'day!

Anna!!  You would love the bright orange book I bought titled Art/Work Everything You Need to Know (and Do) As You Pursue Your Art Career.  It's really well written, informative, realistic, and bright orange (so it will spice up your bookshelf)! I'd send you my copy but I actually think I may use it :D
Also, I want to hear about the gallery thing, please elaborate either here or via le telephone, k thanks!

For those of you who know me, you know that my house, the one I grew up in, has been under construction since we moved into it in 1993. Currently, the kitchen is being remodeled and the porch that came off of the kitchen has been changed to a sun room.  Anyway, I've been keeping my eye out for fun options in terms of flooring and back splash.  I came across this gorgeous flooring on inhabitat.com

Bole Floor

Not only is it lovely but it's smart! The cutting process is the first ever to use the whole tree by following the natural contours of the trunk. Very cool and super gorgey. I'm sure it's going to be pricey, at east until it becomes more popular, but I'm going to try and convince my momma to pick this for the sun room floor!

Peace out, homeys

No. 14, 1960

I was going to write about the home explosion that happened Tuesday in my town.  I was going to outline what it made me think about and how it helped to solidify some of my recent life decisions.  But, the impact it has had on my small town is too overwhelming.  It is tragic and simply not about me or anyone but the Proudfoot family.  The young man, Robert Croft, was actually in my sister's graduating class.  He had moved in with his grandmother, Regina Proudfoot, last November to keep her company after the recent passing of her husband.  This is another reminder to not take anyone, anything, or any day in your life for granted.

I had a hard time thinking of an appropriate artist for this entry and I landed on Mark Rothko.  When you see them in person, his paintings make you feel peaceful.

Live happily and love with a full heart, anything less is a waste of time.
